"Arrays"

Re-reading my last post I know I missed some interesting things but I'm having trouble remembering what they were exactly.

I know I mentioned that HTA and that I would be writing a roughly equivalent application in HTA form. That was the plan as I read through the PHP/MySQL book.

I'm already starting to lose a little interest in that book. And I've only just finished chapter 3. I started on chapter 4 but since it seems like a very basic here's what a database is...here's what SQL is... type of very basic thing it's hard to stay excited about it. I think I already know what stuff. In fact the FOUR chapters are about either SQL or error handling. Ok error handling is probably good to know but I really just wanted to know stuff about PHP/MySQL combinations. And the book seems to cover extra stuff.

So I should really just commit myself to completing this book, like on some kind of deadline. Like January 31st. There's 17 chapters, I've already completely 3, so that's 15 chapters inside of 30 days. That seems reasonable, especially considering not all of them will have the real time-suck of code to go through or much of anything to take notes on. I may even pause every so often to try and apply what I have learned to my original creations. So ya, it seems like a reasonable goal.

I also need to catch up to what I have learned in PHP in VBScript for the HTA I may or may not eventually create.

PHP doesn't actually seem like that bad of a language. In fact I quite like it. As with anything I just have to practice it a lot, over and over again and over again.

Oh and since I didn't mention in the last post, there was a reason I titled it "Big Wing Boy". Namely that this is what I was going to code-name the as-of-yet unnamed HTA-based application. I even came up with a version numbering scheme involving the year then the month then if necessary the day (1.0 = 10, 01 = jan, 03 = day: 1.0.01.03). This will probably make it difficult to make it to a version 2 now that I think about it. I could always slightly alter the numbering scheme for that. Like... 2.11.01.04 or something.

I'm still fairly excited about this HTA. I know it will have so many features. In fact if I can figure out how to intercept the "output stream". I have more to write, but not right now. So I'll come back later today and finish. Or save the rest for tomorrow.

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
