"The Cube"

Ya, I still work for apple. The computer company. The one that makers Macintosh. Ya, that one. They've moved my cube. Across the hall, about 10 feet away from my old one. They also moved my cube mate. He was across the hall from me; now he's across the hall from me.

It's amazing how different the world looks from a different cube 10 feet away across the hall. My last cube had a built-in desk lamp, this one doesn't. Instead there's a panel light in the ceiling immediately above it. It's like...bright. Lighted. What is this, day time? I'm about a week from wearing sunglasses at work.

In that department it's almost like I'm starting the job again or something. I'm getting used to it though. In fact I was on a rather long call trying to clarify something for customer that really wasn't my job. Try as I might I was having a hard time understanding what she was talking about or trying to say. I patiently listened and tried to help her through it however. I guess I was doing well because she said I had renewed her fait in the whole applecare organization. So I gave her my manager's email address.

To my surprise she not only followed through on the promise to email my manager she emailed my manager as soon as she got off the phone with me. Which my manager then forwarded to my team with much congratulatory phrases and wording.

And this is my new manager. Ya: new manager, new cube. Technically she's my manager starting tomorrow. But I have tomorrow off so lets just say she's my new manager now. So first day of the new manager and I get a complementary email from a caller. Too bad the damn call took so long. Short calls are good.

Oh and before you wonder if I'll talk about Tiger: no, I won't. Not until the 29th anyway. Sure I've been trained on it. Looked at screenshots. Taken "self paced training" courses. But I won't talk about it. All the info you want is on the apple web site. I have no opinion. So go away.

I haven't posted a lot on account of the game I was playing: Elderscrolls 3: Morrowind. What a disappointing game. I spent so much time on it I decided I could at least see it to the end. Took me forever. Could I be outgrowing games? Nah. I think a LAN party is coming up though. Wuhoo!

I have at least one project in the planning stages however. Not sure it will "really" happen. Just hoping as much. It'll be fun and/or time consuming. Are there any good short term hobbies? I mean really. A short term hobby? That's like a chore, or something. Taking out the garbage. Doing the dishes. Those are short term. Modifying an old atari to be composite video/audio, run off batteries and built into a TV screen with little to no electronics experience, now that's whole-summer-long/fun. Right? Ok I may have shared too much. Of course that's only the first half of the project. The other half...well now that's just unreasonable is that that is. Makes the atari thing sound easy is what it does.

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
