"I'm Back"

I ended up taking a rather long hiatus from this blog for no apparent reason. I was working on my project and that was taking up virtually every night and weekend leaving me no time for entries is this blog. But I stopped the project cold and haven't worked on it in weeks. So what reason do I have to skip this blog now? Just got into the habbit of not submitting to it any more I guess.

One thing did happen on my hiatus however. For some reason someone called me about it. I never got the phone message; the gist was merely relayed to me. Just so whatever few people reading this know: don't do that. It freaks me out. Freaked me out so much I was contemplating shutting the whole blooming thing down completely. No like anybody would notice.

Speaking of which I had a couple days there with 30+ visits a day. I'm guessing the same person who tried to call me. Must have been looking at my archives or something, which duplicates my hits in the counter I use.

Seriously though: if you want to contact me for some reason use the convenient comment links attached to the posts. That's what they're there for. Don't call me. Ever. I won't receive the message and I won't call back.

In the mean time I've been using my homemade PVR with some success. It records shows; I watch those shows at my convenience, skipping through commercial breaks. It's no TiVo but it gets the job done. Also I can browse the web, watch live TV, schedule recordings etc. I even have a couple games installed on it. Those games in combination with my wireless game pad is pretty nice. Though the games, not so good.

I got a lot of gift cards for Christmas so I bought a lot of PC games with that. Like Half-Life 2 and the RTS game Battle for Middle-Earth. I already finished BFME, still working on HL2. BFME is really an extremely good game. Ties in about as flawlessly as any game could to the trilogy of movies. And you can play any number of armies too, including the dark forces or Mordor. I finished on the light side and haven't gone back to try the evil side yet. After a while it all seemed a like to me. Every map was gather your forces, find evil camp, destroy evil camp then repeat. Boring! Last battle at the black gates was great though. I had a 600+ member army, plus all the call-in-cavalry type things: ghost pirates, gondor riders, elven archers, ents and probably more. Normally your army is limited to 300.

At work everything is about the same. I still get real jerk callers every so often. Just so everyone read this knows: if you can send a receive email your Internet connection and mail program are actually working. So don't get pissed off when your told this and your mail isn't operating as you'd like. If you can send and receive it's working! Stupid users.

One call I got from someone who was on with another agent for an hour or so. Called back and got me: he was having trouble communicating with his airport base station (i.e. wireless router). Eventually I figured out really he didn't have wifi card in his computer (I had him open the computer to check). Why didn't the other agent figure this out? Stupid people.

This has been a very disjointed post. It'll take some more practice to be at wherever I was before the hiatus I suppose. The project I'm thinking about now is that story I've been contemplating off and on for a year+ now. That could be fun. Yes, something fun and productive to do during lunch breaks.

This blog is a combination "personal musings" (mostly satirical and dripping with sarcasm) ranging from what's going on in my life to my views on politics and various current events. For 2010 my goal is to make an entry every day for the entire year or at least as close as I can come to that goal as may be practical.
